Craft Cakes CLT, founded by artist Brigitte Oger, offered farm-to-table cakes with gluten-free and vegan options, designed to bring a high-end, customizable dessert experience to Charlotte. The goal of the project was to create a website that simplified navigation, highlighted the unique offerings, and provided customers with a seamless ordering experience.

Before diving into website design, we updated the brand by establishing a cohesive color palette and typography system. Black, bleached coral, and white formed the primary backgrounds, while gold leaf and coral were used as accents in illustrations, icons, and buttons. Custom illustrations were designed to visually guide customers through the ordering process, including a Cake Size Guide and “How to Order” sections, combining whimsy with clean, linear design elements.

The Shopify site included robust features to enhance usability and flexibility: detailed product listings with customization options (color, décor, dietary preferences), pickup and delivery scheduling, an FAQ page, testimonials, and a location guide for their Uptown Charlotte shop. Each feature was carefully designed to make the experience intuitive and enjoyable while reinforcing the brand’s artisanal, high-quality aesthetic.

Though Craft Cakes CLT is no longer in business, the website remains a favorite portfolio piece for its depth, customization, and visual storytelling — showcasing how thoughtful design can support a brand’s unique products and customer experience.
